itould be asumeable to take a bit of both, because they both are part of soil bioligy, but specific plants have specific needs, wich thea would be better, wich basic ingedrients to use, for bateria or fungi?

I heard a more bacteria based tea is better for your plants. If I can find a good recipe, I'll give it a try this year. Anyone got a good bacteria based tea recipe that they would like to share with us? Thanks in advance.

You'll get a raft of opinions but I feel that this would depend largely on the time of year. Fungala most of the time & bacterial just prior to periods of predicted disease pressure.

That said; certain bacterial strains are known (even registered as bio-rational fungicides) to suppress certain disease such as phytophthora, fusarium & powdery mildew. Since it is impossible to predict whether these species will actually grow under normal brewing, it is probably best to purchase packaged inoculants & add them to an aerobic compost tea (ACT) right before spraying.

Since ACT is most likely to be fungal in nature, I guess that my opinion would be to brew a highly aerobic fungal tea & add the desired bacteria right before spraying.

If you use "castings" for your tea base it will be bacterial in nature.

It's bacteria that feed the fungals in the soil, when the "desirable" fungals are growing well they compete with and win over the "nastys" that we are worried about.

i.e. There are more good fungals than bad in a balanced healthy soil,,when the bad get the upper hand (diseases appearing) something is wrong with your dirt usually from the things your are supplying it with or depriving it of.

If you fellows want reasonably correct information you can get it by going to North Country Organics. On that site you get ACT 101 from one of the three most knowlegeable persons who has authored numerous books. All the basics stated correctly are on this site. All of the tested proofs showing the results of brewing are clearly posted on this site. You may completely overlook most sales talk and methodology that creates human doubts by educating yourselves. The old addage that you know when a salesman is lying if his lips are moving is still a decent consideration. And the truth is if you have decent ballanced home made compost you can brew up all the good stuff from your own compost.
....I do suggest that you start with purchased compost and the bacterials boosters plus minerals and humatic acids in a receipee that is simply basic...suggested on the same web site. After you make a few great brews you can slide into your own innouclated compost (from left overs)you made and go scott free from there if you wish.

Read the book "teaming with microbes." There is much more information there than any of us ever need to know.
