What do you use to heat your water/tea in your brewer? Ive tried a fish tank heater and it doesn't seem to keep it warm enough.

One easy way is to brew your tea in a room of the house that is heated, near a heat duct. Most folks keep their homes right around 70 degrees. We are talking ACT right? The warm air your pump puts into the water will warm it up quite nicely.

if your container is black and you keep it in the sun once the weather warms in june? it will get warm enough without any help

or you can wrap a black plastic garbage bag around the container it will do the same thing .

My understanding is that tea is best brewed at ambiant temperature

local farm supply should have outdoor water heaters for animals, I have one for 5-10 gallon, and 75 gallon heater for the equine. hope this helps.

Cheapest thing I have found is to go to a Salvation
Army or Goodwill Thrift shop and find an old waterbed heater pad with thermostat. The lowest setting keeps my 33 gallon barrell about 80° with the barrell sitting on top of it. I keep the sending unit probe just touching the water/tea. I heat the water before adding my tea components.

And "Yes, I have to clean the tea foam off every time I use it.

Here in WA, you really don't need to heat your tea, plus I haven't seen conclusive data as to whether it's better to brew at ambient temps or at 68-70 deg. F (best temp for microbial growth in tea). Dr. Ingham recommends brewing at ambient temp for the application though.

It's really too cold this time of year anyway, unless you're applying indoors, in which case I'd just brew indoors as well.

The water heaters for animals wont work, they only heat to a temp just above freezing. Trust me, we stuck one in our baptisim tank, thinking it would warm the water up, it was in there 2 days prior and the water was still cold!
