I'm brewing tea for the past 36 hours and the temp inside the 20 gallon brewer is 94 degrees. Is this too hot?

Yes, I'd concur....too hot! When you do have higher temps, you have to cut way back on foods as well, as possibly shorten the brewing cycle.

How does it smell? You may want to toss this batch out and brew the next batch in a cooler area.

It smelled like sweet compost so i put it on the patch last night and haven't noticed any ill effects today

It really comes down to your water temps, which is directly affected by air temps. However, I wouldn't be concerned unless you're getting into the 90s. If your water temps are above 85F, I'd probably cut my brew to 24 hours. This is really general advice though, because each brewer is going to be different, along with the fact that different recipes will provide different results. Be sure to cut your food inputs as well!

PS: I'm in Seattle and we're in the middle of the most bizzare heat wave! I can't imagine trying to brew tea in this weather!
