You guys see any potential problem with using copper rather than pvc for my air delivery in my brewer. Pvc must be against code in Canada for potable water because no one carries it.
Cheers.

Copper vs PVC? Hummmmmmm? I'm amused that copper has been used in millions of American homes and business for nearly a century now but the compost tea hierarchy says oh no. Copper is bad! A little common sense goes a long ways in life. IMHO.

They have cpcv @ my home depot in the same section they keep the black iron gas pipes but absolutely no fittings!!!! I will check another store as my store has a reduced electrical and plumbing dept!
BTW, I am making the Mark Rutter/Oregon state version and have found a source for the 110L pumps in Buffalo. $80
Cheers

The reason not to use copper in compost tea brewer is copper is anti-bacterial. Last thing you want to do with your brewer is kill all the good bugs you're trying to grow.

Checked 2 home depots and they had nothing. Picked up what I needed @ lowes. If Lowes was closer to where I live I would use them more for sure. They always have what HD does not.
Thanks guys.

Wilbur is right, it's the anti-microbial properties. Most people use plastic/pvc or stainless steel.

Wilbur and Tad12 are right, copper is an anti-bacterial property. Copper is great for door knobs.

The main issue here is to have the air moving when placing the tube in or taking it out of the brewer. What gets inside the delivery tube or pipe can not be easily cleaned out and rarely ever is cleaned. In no time flat the material coated to the inside of the delivery or air injection tube will go anaerobic and be home for a bunch of crap you do not want.
