FantaZtic... What kind of camera are you using and microscope... Love that Nematode eating.... I have seen that before with mine... thought it waZ something from Dr Suess.... Great Job here... Need to put up some more..

Just took a look, and that's some nice fungal hyphae you have in that photo!

Are you using fish in your recipe as a food source?

This particular recipe had no fish Tad. I think the fact that we used fresh leafcompost was the reason for the excellent fungal hyphea. Mollases, humic acid, alfa alfa, and the compost. That was all it took.

That's great. Fish hydrolysate is a great way to get similar fungal growth. I love leaf mold/mulch compost for the reasons you described.

I have found that humic acid doesn't seem to have much benefit when making ACT.

Try testing a small batch of compost and just humic as a food source in comparison with a control (compost + water). My guess is the control will look the same or possibly even better than the humic acid tea, based on the quantity of humic acid you use.

Tad, we dont really use the humic as a food source. Its to help deal with chlorine in the tap water we use. I know airating the water for several hours works to, but usually we ad a tiny bit of humic and airate for an hour, maybe two and then start. Might be un nessecary but its turned into a habbit,, ;)
