My son who is working towards a bachelor in agriculture science gave me a great tip for making compost tea. We heat the water to 80 degrees using a cheap aquarium heater we purchase at Walmart. Next we measure out two cups of worm castings and place it in a bowl. We then add about half a cup of molasses to the worm castings and stir it in. The most and gooey mixture is then place in a nylon(pantyhose) sock and hung in a 5 gallon container filled with the water. We place an air stone attached to an air pump (walmart) directly underneath the sock. What we have found is that the bacterial life develops much faster and the soup is ready to go within one day. My patch is getting soup on a daily basis.

Brew tea on the temperature it is outside and where wou want to apply it.. If your soil is still cold and the tea is warm, then you will loose many microbes as they flourish in warm water, but die in the cold soil. The soil soup bucket use to have a heater with them to. And yes microbes do better in warm conditions.

Another tip is always clean your air stone so you get the best aeration possible.
