The article contains a link to the original source. It shows very high K from lawn clippings so I think I will be using lawn clippings rather than worrying about how much kelp I might be able to afford. (The article comments about the “unsustainable fish industry”... but says nothing about the kelp industry???) Anyhow, mowed my lawn 2nd time yesterday and got over 80 lbs of “free redneck kelp” (would make 200 gallons of liquid fertilizer according to their recommendations)! They recommend about 2 lb pound of grass per 5 gal gallons water (if your kinda hick you can go ahead and convert that to 16 lbs/40 gallon trash can or a real redneck 22 lb/55 gallon barrel) as the final dilution rate to achieve the recommended 150 ppm nitrogen... the exact results for their fertilizer was 157 ppm N 126 ppm P and 618 ppm K (this should be excellent for growing giant pumpkins!!!) plus all the other nutrients. It appears lawn clippings are equivalent to chicken manure. Who knew?

Awesome but I would not use grass clippings treated with weed n feed or other stuff.

Alfalfa pellets would be very convenient... but check the indgredients for anything unexpected.

I bag up all my grass clippings, nothing treated at all. You can tell it is full of nitrogen. Just leave it in a pile and it heats up quickly. I mix it with leaves for compost, and I spread it thin for mulch. It breaks down quickly so you have to reapply a couple times during the season.
