Is anyone tracking auction prices and/or posting results? It helps greatly to see the market value of seeds.

I should be able to get to a lot of them this year. Hopefully that helps take some of the work off spudder who did them last year. It's quite a bit of work copy and pasting reformatting and keeping track of the bids.

Maybe it's already being done this way, but I had an idea about it being maybe more 'easy' - but it's not for me! Ummm, I went to the Auction Schedule page and opened two completed auctions on separate occasions, highlighted and copied from each a random sample of the text - pasted that into the Reply Text window above and everything appears to be in order and organized; A new Lot # would of course become a new big space between them and in capital letters in a universal spot (preferably BETWEEN Lot sections, or off to the right, which is also great) the winning bids would be placed ('---25, 25, 15' - already looks great). As I said, it's probably already being done this weigh, but, it's the day after Christmas and I am bored, lol---eric g

I suppose the main problem would be if there would be bonus/unannounced/etc. lots, but whattaya gonna do? Oh, yeah, maybe there'd be no more need to meticulously determine the 2000-characters-per-reply limit as well? Yays!

---perhaps the ACTUAL, COLORIZED/GRAPIC text can be saved in an archive (it IS already) and ONLYYYYYYYYY the winning bids will need to be entered into and amongst all that text that will have had to be manipulated 2-3,4 times? F'rinstance - that text, in every auction's menu, is already there. Plug in and play on. eg

I copy the auction pdf info into a text file on word then reformat it to make it look better and remove the clutter. Then I plug in the results as they happen. You can just paste into notebook and leave it raw and just plug the prices in, it just dosent look quite as good but the info is all that counts really. You could paste directly into the "reply text" box but Im not sure you would gain less work. I like having the results in another file before I post so I can correct any errors.

I highlight and scroll, copy and paste the whole thing into notepad at once. I then tidy it up usually before saving in pictures. Some auctions are formatted so they are very quick and some like the Spain auction I did yesterday are long . Weights beneath the pictures have to be deleted but weights in the pictures usually are eliminated with the picture when copying.
The real time consuming thing (to me) is being at the auction to record.

because of my AST zone I have looked to find a way to overcome this and have an app that allows me to set and save the auction and then fill them in the next day. That explains the difference in posting time that you may notice.
The problem with that is if you are disconnected, you have to be there to get back into chat and I have to be up early for work.
I have my computer set up to never sleep and also a hard automatic shut down set.Auctions that are too long get the last few Lots missed. I allow for 3.5 hours and that should be more than enough time for any auction to be completely run
Once I update and post the results, I clear that saved auction usually immediately but definetly within a few days. Do not need clutter on my computer.

Now last but not least , I do thank Altitude maters (Scott) for stepping up and volunteering to spread the work around. Anybody else that wants to volunteer to help, feel free to do so. The more the better. While you are in the auction all night you could be bringing up Notepad and updating the prices.
Venari and Countryboy put in a lot of hours at this and I for one thank them for their efforts. This is the best site for growers , bar none.
