The price show the highest and lowest auction and then finds the average price between all the single auctions. The total seeds auctioned number includes the seeds auctioned off in sets.

I put the 1885.5 Werner(grew to WR) in this just for fun. It already had an auction winning bid this year of $560. lol

A little history, At an auction, a grower paid more than $ 1,000 for seed 2145, and won both seeds, more than $ 2,000 for both.
In England, I think the Big Show was paid £ 1250, I think I remember the 2323 Meier seed.https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-suffolk-35744149

It should not matter what a seed went for a week ago, a year ago, etc., pertaining to what it will go for nowaday at an auction; That is determined by what any number of growers are willing to shell out for that seed or seeds in total that they are bidding on in real time. I have plennnnn-ty of seeds and don't need any more but I'd hate to have anyone announce their own belief of how much any seed 'should' go for during an auction. Even if I'm not bidding, that is pretty annoying. Sure, very interesting/informative and neat to look at/flip through but let's not let it go to anyone's head nor influence prices. A seed's real value, and only to its grower, mind us, is the cost to grow that seed's mother fruit divided by the # of seeds that are retrieved from it. A {X,XXX-pounder costing $500 to grow}'s 500 seeds retrieved could start out valued at $1 each and then, WE go from there @ the auction - to a $20 minimum bid, lol---eg

I found it quite interesting, could give some newer growers some insight into how the auctions can go. Of course these are just the hot seeds of the past few seasons, many great options go for 30-60 bucks, and may explode in price if someone turns them into something special. I hope to be in that auction when everyone falls asleep or has technical glitch while bidding on an 1885 and I get it for under $40. Happy new year everybody!

Altitude, you did nothing wrong.
It is surprising how many high priced seeds were not high priced at first. 2145, 2183, 1501, 1875, 1885 were all fairly cheap at first until someone grew really big ones. These were all over shadowed by other new seeds in their perspective years.

Goodness - no, no feathers ruffled - I have a habit of implying that, though, in my wordings over the years (no 'lol' there); Should I not be the one of the bunch that expresses a bit of caution when something new and maybe beneficial comes along that has no 'track record' yet? No. At the same time, though, the one opinion that is not yet popular is just that - not yet popular. I hope it doesn't become so, in this case, but I needed to express it. I also agree totally with ALL of you and especially the last two others' comments in that had this not come to light, I would not have known how cheap an 1885 was to begin with. Rock and a hard place - I never buy seeds that are fresh outta the fruit, with no track record yet; Fittingly, as soon as they DO have one and gain popularity and presumed value out of my reach, well, that's how we got to be right here at the moment - Sorries! (very many) and oh, by the weigh, is there a data set for the 1756 Howell/Jolivette? That is my new PB of seed cost at $135, for starters, lol - eg

Plus, some people are truly bidding to support the clubs. So someone who is a member of the club might stay in the auction scrum longer and technically "over pay." Or in the Wisconsin auction held at a bar/restaurant- alcohol might come into play. :-)

Spudder is spot on about seeds being cheap at first. I have the 1885 because it was in a set with the 1810. Maybe the whole set was $65. I think most people thought the 1810 was going to be a hotter seed. Now, I will feel guilty about killing the 1885 because of what happened this year. lol

We(GPC) sold a 1810 Stevens for $1625. The buyer made three or four payments. True story. I was the treasurer and received the payments.

Lol @ Rick - to cover MYself, I be lovin' the 1756 - I won't say why until I grow another, but for me to pay over $80 for any seed? Oh, I must have my reasons, lol---Great seed---eg
