There appears to be a number of growers trying Butternut this season. I've come up with an excel-based algorithm that is giving a +/-3% accuracy (on a very small sample). It's simple to use, requiring three measurements to be entered, not dis-similar to the calculators for AG's etc. If anyone would like a copy, just send me a message via the email link on my diary page: Curtis UK I'll include measurement instructions & diagrams with the spreadsheet.

Hey Curtis, I'm growing butternut this year. I and another grower have been using the FP chart and getting estimates that are pretty close to our culls. Instead of just one measurement across the middle we were averaging the measurements from the top and bottom of the hour glass shape. I was going to make a spreadsheet this year using the weights and measurements we got with out final fruit and culls. I have 22 butternut on 2 other plants to use as samples for the chart. Maybe we can combine efforts and make a more accurate chart. Let me know what you think. You can email me at ruthruffderek@gmail.com
