On Sunday Oct 2nd will be the first annual Carpinito Brothers Weigh-off in Kent, Washington, between Seattle and Tacoma. They have offered a very generous prize schedule of 6 thousand, 3 thousand, 2 thousand, 1.5 thousand and 1 thousand for the top five pumpkins/squash. They also have awards for 6th place down to 20th place. Registration is from 8am to 10am, weighing to follow. PLEASE NOTE: The address on the GPC web site is incorrect. The weigh off will be at 27508 West Valley Highway N, Kent, WA 98032. If any out-of-towners wish to drop off their pumpkin the evening before, contact Lee at reptile@whidbey.net to help set things up.

Which prize placement do they want to keep the pumpkins for their own display? If any?

The top five will stay. Please note, squash and pumpkins will be weighed together. If a squash is the second biggest at the event, it will be awarded the 3K prize and the green plaque. Ribbons for pumpkins will be shifted down accordingly. A great opportunity for squash growers.

Hi Lee, I have prior obligations on Sunday but I would be able to drop off my pumpkin the night before. Do we need to be present to be eligible for prize money?
