Yep, a Jay Leno sized collection of the best tomatoes. He says that's his "next to last one", my guess is the last one is no cherry tomato! (No pressure Dan, but I and a 3rd witness are ready to drive over, con gusto!) I keep offering... :(

Holloway- only my first 3 are recognized by Guinness,I've decided to quit pursuing Guinness because the Lord in the bible says "seekest thou great things for thyself,seek them not" so that is my motive for not certifying them, they are all weighed on a certified scale though. Now I grow just for fun and a challenge to myself, so much less stress and more enjoyable.

Congrats dan, you Have these figured out. If I were you, I would register your biggest just to set the bar and record straight. it is helpful to have a record that is nice and clear for other growers to shoot for. I understand your reasoning but I think it wouldn't be tooting your own horn for ego reasons, just getting the bar set right so it's nice and clear. Something to think about.

In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remember the words the Lord Jesus himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive." The desire to not seek fame is admirable. I would just like to point out that having the record officially recognized is not just about personal glory. It's about sharing an amazing thing with the world. I remember reading the Guinness book as a child and being amazed and inspired by the things I read about. Little Kids (and Adults) all over the world would be amazed to discover a 17 pound tomato in their Guinness Book. Think about it as an opportunity to inspire others rather than thinking about it as tooting your own horn. Maybe there is a way you could submit anonymously.

No one really cares about guinness. If you officially weigh and send in the video of your tomato equivalent of a 3000 pound pumpkin then everyone knows what they have to beat. No guessing.

Unfortunately I know how people are. So in the future say five years maybe not even that long here is the scenario. Someone looks up the GPC or guinness record,They see that the largest tomato is the the 11.65 Faust or(whatever the current registered GPC record or Guinness record happens to be) This guy/girl then grows a twelve pound tomato and starts claiming it on this site and others as the new world record.
The question then comes down to this "Dan, are you Ok with that guy claiming the record?". WHat I have seen is that records need to be defended by the grower who grew them, no one else is going to step to the plate for a grower who won't defend his own record. Perhaps you are a better man than me because I know if i GREW A 17 pounder and then someone else started claiming they had the record with a twelve pounder that would be hard for my ego to keep my mouth shut, and who knows what kind of stupidity would come out of my mouth to defend what I knew I had accomplished many years prior.

I'm with bigmoon, it will be a source of needless conflict. Proverbs 13:10. "Only through pride does contention last..." Mormons are even clearer in their beliefs: "the spirit of contention... is of the devil, who is the father of contention". (I dont get a clearer view of things when I follow the Mormons too far off my own map, but that sounds like truth to me.
Probably creating huge contentions myself here by even mentioning the Mormon doctrines!)
You do what works for you Dan. Don't let us mislead you off what you know to be the correct path!

To no one in particular, please, I'd have to day that the official record, that which is in print, written in gold ink, so to speak, would be what has to be gone by to beat the record that stands. Similar this is to that the WR pumpkin is still 2702.9 and yet the HEAVIEST pumpkin ever grown was 2907 pounds; Whether official or not, there is that distinction available.
NOTICE that the numbers are the same butt rearranged, lol:
(2907/2702.9 - very similar, made just for the fun of noticing);
