It would be nice if we could have photos of all the Pumpkins submitted with the results. Anyone know how hard that would be logistically? It would be pretty easy to have someone designated to take photos at each event but I am not sure how easy it would be to get them paired up with the correct entries and into the hands of the GPC and or Andy at Pumpkin fanatic.

I think the difficulty of finding photos is one of the consequences of having the community digitally spread across multiple platforms. In the past everyone used to just upload their pics here and it was easy to find them but now a lot of people just upload them to their personal insta or facebook pages or to private groups / group chats. It can be a pain trying to find them a lot of times.

I like your idea of having a designated photo-taker.

I made a similar though probably low-profile mention of this when it came to ANYone and any fruit being registered on PF, whereby I found that some of my own HAD been submitted, which is great(!) and also that in my request for such, I had or had NOT submitted pics of those fruits either(!) - like pointing myself out in a lineup!

Not well-versed, butt I figure an automatic camera(s), (Trail-Cam?) aimed at the scales and also all growers' diligence when it comes to having a smart phone in hand and both hands on a computer later would be advantageous, at least for the last decade of photos.
I'm a huge fan of 'Save Image As' in my adventures, lol---eg

I wish I could see them all. I really enjoy when the auctions start because they have so many great pictures. The other thing is sometimes I wonder how others feel about uploading photos of other people's kins? Some people have never uploaded pictures, ever. Different note if it was done through the GPC at the weigh off it would be a great way to document and authenticate kins. An offical seal of approval. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words.

I'll try to lay low here on out, but anyone can just type in one's own last name on PF, simply, and see what of theirs is on PF in its entirety. Copy the name to paste in once it goes back to the dropdown window. I'll tell ya, even just on the first one in looking at my pictures in my camera/'puter, I was newly-intrigued by of my own fruit from like '11. THAT seed may now get grown again! Later and good luck with this---eric g

A couple years ago I went on a mission to find pictures of all of the fruit that were grown off the 2350 Geinger in 2021. I went through diaries on BP, searched for individuals on Face book and also searched for posts of individual weigh off locations. I managed to get all but a couple of them and uploaded them on Pumpkin Fanatic. It was a lot of effort and took quite a bit of sleuthing. There are 16 from 2022 that don't have pictures uploaded.

This winter would be a good time for everybody to submit any pics up to three that are useable on PumpkinFanatic.com without rattling anyone to do it for you. Select fruit in dropdown, see Family Tree, select 'Modify' and make any changes and submit up to three photos. Once the parent seeds are selected, letting the SYSTEM show YOU the information that is available, click and submit with your credentials (there are even stored credentials, in some cases!). The main reason for this is to validate a grower's intent to grow a particular seed or just decide on its potential - 'DO I want to plant THIS seed, or NOT?' or 'I got a bunch of seeds I know nothing about' and its or their EVER being planted may hinge upon the fruit the seed came from AND/OR its offspring - even ONE orange fruit, or one HUGE fruit from any seed can make all the difference that is needed. IDC, but with the resources available, let's make use of them, for all of us. I can presently only supply pics of my fruits from and after 2011 - Unless I review my own diaries and...there's a bunch more! PS---DO NOT worry about color...eg

"without rattling anyone to do it for you."
I am merely pointing out how it is done on an individual basis; I was not saying anything to you in particular, Captain 97 nor imposing as to how I think would be the best and most-productive way. I do think that once one does it once, for once, lol, they'll see the benefits and continue to do so. eg
