For the past five years I've been listening/reading folks talking about how many lobes are good to have in a female flower. 4, 5, and 6 lobes being the subject all of the time. Most of the talk suggests or implies that more lobes equate to more interior divisions, thus better structure to support the mass of a large pumpkin. Frankly, I have know idea so regarding that I'll defer to others. Frankly, all of my females have been 4 and 5 lobers and as I said all anyone has ever mentioned is 4s, 5s, and 6s. I didn't know until this morning a 3 lober was even possible when I plucked one off the end of a secondary. Someone should tell me these things :). There's a photo in my diary incase, like me, you've never seen a 3 lobed female.

I think a one-lober would be best, so if you see what looks like a male and female mutant and wanna off it, pollinate it instead. Perhaps we are one-lobers before birth and two-lobers after, lol---eg

Good entertainment value to ponder what these could grow.

@pumpkinpal thats what I need someday for a pumpkin canoe, none of this 5 lobe nonsense lol.

But... seriously folks if you want all the info about your baby pumpkin... then try counting the sepals, the little green spikes behind the flower petals. Thats the info you really want, in my experience.

Tiger King is the largest 3 lobed fruit that comes to my mind. They're fairly common--my Maverick has been throwing them at a 40-50% rate this year
