About 1.5” long 3/16” deep. Not sure what caused it. What can I do? A chance it will heal up and grow big?

Post a photo in your diary Tim.

I don’t have a diary. Can’t post a picture here. I read somewhere else that caulking clear or white might help. I’ve used captan paste before on wounds. Just looking for ideas. Thanks!

You can start a diary here and post a picture to it. You can also download the app. Its easy to use.

Caulking, unless completely and 100% removed prior the weighoff, will DQ your entry.

From the Main Menu 'Grower Diaries' or go to:
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/
At upper-right side, hit
Submit to Your Own Diary New!
Then, click on the date scroll-down (it's fancy!) and
hit that and the rest will be following suit and --- HISTORY!
I hope it works well for you and don't fret if the pic is upside down;
I think if you edit it and save it on your desktop before submitting,
that makes it come out right.
G'luck! eric g

Okay, I submitted two photos from a few days ago in a new diary I just created. Apparently, it needs to get approved before it will post. Thanks for any insight, information, ideas or suggestions. Thanks!

I've never seen a pumpkin do that on its own accord. It looks like something hit it, bit it or fell on it? Put a fan on it. Keep it dry. If it were in my patch I would be spraying a little hydrogen peroxide solution on it to kill any bacteria that might be forming.

Agree 100% with Kevin. Sometimes you or something external can wound them when they are small and it amplifies as they grow.

Good news is if it's growing, it'll keep if it stays clean and DRY. It'll scar over and likely have a strange shape.

I burnt a young one with a fallen tarp on 105 degree day years ago. It left a bad burn and grew into it.

Thanks! Just regular 3% hydrogen peroxide?

Tim, you would not need to wait for approval on pictures if you became a premium member for $15. I think we would all agree that we get far more than $15 worth of good information from this website.
