Is it best to terminate main vine at pumpkin or allow it to keep growing and burying nodes. Also when secondaries reach edge of patch is it best to terminate and bury or bury at node and allow to keep growing into grassy area or along fence. Thanks!

I leave a little stem on the end and bury at the last node. My thinking is there's less chance of rot at the wound. I think a lot of people terminated secondary vines at or before 15'. Not sure but I think the jury's still out on terminating the main at the pumpkin. Some do and some don't. I think I'm leaning toward leaving it or at least leaving a close secondary just in case my keeper goes south. Not positive what everyone else is doing.

I think extra extensions on the secondaries, especially those farthest from the pumpkin, wont contibute much, its better to push that plant effort forward.
