Hello, I'm a newer grower in northern Vermont and I'm having trouble with the older leaves on my vine turning yellow and at the edges and eventually turning brown and dieing. I've been pretty consistent with my watering, pest and mildew control but my plant doesn't look healthy to me and I'm not sure what else to try. I've got a nice 25-30lb pumpkin going and I feel like it's too early in the season for my vine to start dieing back. A couple of photos:

On a small plant like that the pumpkin will suck the nutrients out of those older leaves. Probably not much you can do about it. You could try giving the plant tiny amount of fertilizer but at this stage its possible any the fertilizer you apply will go into the pumpkin or the pumpkin will abort.

I believe you don't have enough plant to support your pumpkin before the kin. All early growth will be feeding your kin and die... later growth will continue on and look good.
