Prayers go out to everyone who was in the path of Hurricane Helene. I am not sure if there were any melon or pumpkin growers out there who may have been in the path of the devastation. The power of mother nature can be relentless. My Florida pumpkin pal Tim took quite a hit in the Cortez area in the Gulf Coast area. Tim had a foot of more of sand and salt water in his home and to make matters worse his old reliable roto tiller was submerged. His backyard pumpkin patch will be a challenge to get ready this year. For all of us who stayed high and dry we can be thankful we were not in the path.

I am often thankful for my elevation of about 1400' above sea level, which is lessening, I'm sure. My best wishes to Tim and the others. eg

Prayers all dealing with the hurricane. We need our federal government to get down there and help those people ASAP!

I'd say we should chip in to help Tim get a new rototiller except that he might get better results without one. I hope critical needs will be met somehow, and I doubt the federal govt knows how to solve any real world problems at this point. I sound so grouchy. Good post Ned.
