I was looking for feedback from growers who used mustard meal as an amendment, in their patches. If you used it, how much did you personally apply (rough rate) and what impacts did you see, if any? Were you targeting anything in particular or did you use it as a general preventative application?

I look forward to your opinions and experiences. Thank you.

One thing to consider with mustard meal is that it will have non target organism effects. Basically, it's going to indiscriminately kill both the good and bad guys.

Good reminder for everyone. I guess I was looking to see what effectiveness growers saw with its use and what rate they applied to their patches.

I think it's a good option if you grow in the same spot year after year and don't have the ability to rotate patches or if your concerned about disease issues. I used it in the spring two years ago, grew that year in the same space and had a good year. No adverse effects, and no disease, even though we had an extremely wet season that year. If I remember correctly, it was something like a 50- pound bag in 400 sf.
