Hello,

This year we grew the largest pumpkin in Austria.

100% organic and also certified.

In order to be able to use the topic for marketing purposes about our company, I would like to know if there are any other giant pumpkins that were grown with organic certification? If so, how heavy were they?

Perhaps you can help me with that?

Hey Chris In the USA Organic certification is a major hassle and it can only be given by a USDA accredited certifying agent. In the US most growers are backyard growers and are not growing any vegetables for sale at any scale. It wouldn't be worth it for them to go through all the trouble and get USDA cerified organic certification, I don't think a cerified organic would ever be a goal that a grower would ever try to obtain.

@bigmoon there could be some growers who already have the certification as part of their farm and then they happen to grow a pumpkin on that already-certified farm?

I dont know much about it other than (I think) you can sell less than $5000 of organic produce without a certification? At least thats what I read somewhere a long time ago. If thats still true, a pumpkin grower could legally sell their pumpkins as organic (as long as they were) and as as long as they did not sell more than $5,000.
This is not necessarily relevant to the original post. But if someone is wanting to grow some pumpkins organically, they could look into this "minimal sales" loophole in the law. (Which I think is a good loophole for small startups... A new organic farm could focus on their product and customers for their first few months, rather than on the government.)

A guy in my county had a 600 pounder on his organic certified farm. There's got to be a bunch who stay away from harsh chemicals though

Southwest Pennsylvania

The US has Squash Vine Borers, so the vast majority of serious growers use systemics. So not a lot of large organic stuff grown on this side of the pond.

Yes, Mehdi is 100% organic.
Jim Bryson is also growing organic but I'm not sure id he is certified.
I probably grew the biggest "organically grown" pumpkin here in the UK but I don't see getting certified as a viable option in the near future.
