Was gonna order Jim Fords book off amazon. Need to spend more to get free shipping...
Any other books that are grower favorites? I realize some might not be in print anymore.
Thx.

I haven't read it but I heard it's quite informative. Looks out of print, and the updated version seems expensive.

This isn't pumpkin related, but "Four Season Harvest" by Eliot Coleman was my most-used resource when I first start growing fresh produce at my home.
For us northeast growers, it can be tricky to grow produce in the winter time, so his book had a lot of great info.

The Lean Farm is one of my favorite books but it's more about a philosophy on gardening/farming vs a discussion on fertility or how to grow a giant pumpkin.

Hands-on Agronomy by Neal Kinsey. Probably the best soil book I ever read though I don't read that much. As the books states, Neal Kinsey is "A consultant's consultant".

Another good book to read is Marv Meisner's tomato book.

@ Tad, actually so is Jim's book but thats ok because I'm actually thinking about what to buy for someone else, someone who wouldnt be into the technical side of growing. These are all tempting suggestions though, thanks. I'm getting tempted to spend more on books than on seeds. Only the 6th day of the new year and its already getting hard to stay on budget. Oh well.

@ wile, I never got my hands his book but it was an honor to chat with him. I used to watch Joel Holland's DVDs and Steve Connolly did a great DVD on his WR bushel gourd... I dont regret spending a little money on those.

Perhaps the first gardening book that I read and I still love is Dick Raymond's 'Joy of Gardening'. https://www.google.com/books/edition/Joy_of_Gardening/lFlANGwPqXAC?hl=en&gbpv=1&printsec=frontcover
