I wondered what the temperature would be in a system like this. So without the sides. Anyone who has already done this? Is the temperature higher? How much approximately?

That might be a nice setup for growing lettuce or something if the sun was too harsh, but I think its not going to change the temps or humidity with the ends open like that... The more closed it was, the more the temps and humidity would go up. But the way it is right now its just a rain cover and light diffuser.
But yes, if raising the temps was your goal you could play around with the size of the plastic (add quite a bit more plastic) until you get the temps or humidity that the plants want. There's no law that says a greenhouse has to be sealed shut. Leaving at least one end partly open is the poor man's way of ventillating a greenhouse.
Thats my 2 cents!

Adding to that and I just now thought to mention it, in case of a purpose, that making one end noticeably higher than the other in a real-plastic GH of any kind may channel any temperature differential to the higher end where it could be decided as to what to do with it - Probably just let 'er rip or put an EXHAU$T fan there, in a really-enclosed scenario. My nickel. I had not looked at the Diary entry yet, butt upon having made that like 100+ feet long, it may have an impact. eg

The hoop house is also very tall. What little heat that doesn’t flow out the ends will rise to the top and away from the plants, IMHO.

It's not mine, just an example I found on the internet.
Sorry, my initial post was not made clear. I thought the soil would warm up after all due to solarization. I completely understand that the heat escapes. I actually meant the ground temperature. I don't use cables.

It wont warm the soil with the ends unsealed. The heat will escape if it can escape. It might reduce radiant heat loss at night, slightly.
