I have been putting off buying an incubator for a couple of years. This one at Tractor Supply is really nice and at $40 on sale, it is a good buy. It is controlled by a very accurate electronic thermostat that keeps temperature within 1 degree all the time. The temperature range on the one I have tested is between 68 to well over 100 degrees. I added a small computer vent fan to help keep everything uniform.

I have used the same one for both eggs and seeds, can't beat the price. I too installed a computer fan, mounted it so that it blows up, really equalized the temps from top to bottom. I use a cell phone charger to power the fan. Great set up.

For seeds they're great, I didn't have much luck with eggs!

Thats what I use Nate when it comes to the money seeds. I still use my large germ chamber I built besides. I think it was you guys who told me to always monitor the actual soil temps in the pots and not go by just what the thermo is set on, I have never forgot that and germ by that 1 rule religiously...It has saved me alot of seeds and headaches. Thanks ..Josh same hear on the eggs, I found they did better cracked on the edge of a skillet with a touch of oil in the bottom, lol.

this is the one I use, I added a computer fan also, works for all seeds and is high enough for my pots. but if you want to save a few bucks , nate's is a great idea!

I just bought the one that Marley posted, it not only controls temp digital, but also controls humidity digital.
Perfect for raising seeds to plants, but since control temp and humidity it would be good for grafting.
Thanks

I also have the incubator from tractor supply. Can some of you experienced growers tell me if the paper towel and baggy method works ok for watermelon seeds. Or would it be better starting in a peat pot that would fit in incubator, than transplant to bigger pot.

The paper towel and baggy method works great for watermelons for me.

Thanks. Do you file and soak them?

I have been using the reptibator for a few years. It doesn't control the humidity but it does display the humidity inside of the incubator. Either way, I soak the sponge with some water and the humidity stays above 60% for a week. Good Luck!

I was told to file them if you wish, focusing on filing the large radius on top. Then soak for a half hour in water or 50/50 with peroxide. Then place them tip down into premoistened soil so that the top of the seed just protrudes from the soil. Cover tray with plastic wrap. 93 degrees for about 2 days.
