Hi,
I put my melon seeds into pots inside of a sealed plastic bucket with a heat mat inside of it. I was just wondering, how long does it take melons to germinate? is 80 ferinheight soil warm enough to germinate them? I know that they like a hot germination medium, about 90 to 100 ferinheight, but at about 80 Ferinheight, how long will it take to germinate? Thanks!

80 degrees = 7-9 days to emerge from the dirt. More risk though at the lower temps.

I'm doing a test run on a few seeds right now having them wrapped in a paper towel inside of a Ziploc in my germination tank on a heat mat. My dad tried this a few times on his pumpkin seeds and had a very high germination rate. Has anyone else tried this? Just wondering.

Chill that is method is often used, lots of people swear by it.
Has anyone noticed that the cotyledon leaves look nicer when you germinate at a slightly lower temp? (85 degrees)

Yes John, personaly I think the Cot leaves don't get dried out on the tips as much when germed in the mid to upper 80's. Seems anything in the 90's the tips brown out on them even in high humidity. May be just me,lol.
