Todd Dawson just lost a very good melon to a rotted vine. If anyone reading this has a good melon going and wants to keep it growing until a late weigh-off, you may want to go over your plant and remove any old leaves or other vegetation that is lying down on your vines and rotting. This is especially true if your area is getting a lot of rainfall or if you get your leaves wet when you water. I don't know what happened to Todd's vine but I do know that close scrutiny of a growers vines will often help to keep a plant and melon healthy and help to pack on those much desired late pounds.
