NE Arkansas

I planted a 306 Bartoli and it came up but has been stuck at the 2 leaf stage for a week. With no change to size or anything. Any ideas?

If there is no sign of the first true leaves it is possible it doesn't have any.If it does have true leaves and they are growing too slowly it probably needs more warmth or more light.

Soil needs to be over 70 degrees and you need 6 good hours minimum of hot sun!

It has the tiniest true leave but its been in 85 degree warmer with lighting 1 inch above it for weeks

There can be a huge difference with the same seed. Take a look at smokeymtnpumpkin diary. One of the later entries he posted. You will see 4 melon plants side by side all the same seed. The difference is amazing. This is why I try to start at least 2 of the same seed, and better would be 3 or 4 for every plant I intend to grow. Sometimes a seed just does not thrive.

A very slow starting plant grew my first melon over 200 pounds. If it gets what it needs it will likely start growing. I hope you have some backup plants though.

it did snip the tips of the first 2 leaves when it came out. just the very tips

Deal With It

I planted three of the 306 Bartoli seeds yesterday. I'll keep you posted as to what happens for me.

Plant checked out... I'm a newbie but determined to grow one... 3 more staggered in the dirt... we will see. Everything else I have tried to germinate has done so.
