I know some of you Do & Do Not deadhead your melons. If you decide to do so as an elective. #1, Exactly how far after the melon are you cutting?. I am way behind with all the rain we've had but am determined to grow these three melons. All three are between 16'-20' out on mains. #2, Do you think dead heading them will give them an advantage at this late in the game/season. All three melons on diff plants are fast growers so far at 5 dap & one at 7 dap. I've done early stage culling and these are the set melons. Thanks

I do if i need to for fruit position. I really can't say if it makes a difference. All my past big ones were NOT deadheaded. The vine usually just stops growing as the fruit takes everything once it gets going.
