This afternoon I noticed that my biggest and oldest watermelon is turning yellow. The stem is still nice and green, but the weeds are getting bad and the older leaves are looking bad. It has been growing on a sheet of plywood so its not on the dirt. I'm fairly new to watermelon growing. Is this a problem? First weigh off is in 20 days. Will it last that long, should I try to get it in cold storage? Any advice is appreciated.

I my experience yes it is a problem. Mine have always stopped in their tracks when a yellow spot showed up. But might still last a while just wont grow. If the whole thing starts to turn then its probably rotten.

Thanks. I will have to get Jacob to help lift. Its way too heavy for me. I'm afraid of snapping the stem if I roll it.

Sunburn. Put a sheet over it 24-7.

I hope its just sunburn. We had a cold front, a couple days of low humidity, no clouds and very bright sun. I have white towels just the perfect size. Thanks for the advice.
