basically just 6 or 8 pieces of rebar or rebar stakes with 1/2 inch pvc pipe 10 feet long. put rebar in ground at an angle , stick in the pvc. attach cover with 2 inch clips from staples. Done !

I did. I made a pvc frame and used burlap pieces but was looking for simpler options

Have any of you just put a white sheet over the melon?

Its too hot and humid here Bill. They tend to rot if you don't have enough air flow. Some northern states might get away with it, but the tarp also keeps rain water away from the melon and stem.
