New grower question here. Does the day of the official weigh-off for your area affect when you should be planting? i.e. The only Nebraska weigh-off is in October, which is much more than 110-120 days (maturation period listed for Carolina cross at various sites) after a May planting -- a fruit that ripens in August would certainly rot before October.

Under normal circumstances the melons should still be in good shape by weigh-off. About 60 days from start to pollination and up to about 90 days growth.

right, so 130 min to 150 days from when you start your seeds.

Sounds good! Thanks. The math wasn't working for the 110 days some places listed, while most of the growers were talking about how to start seeds early and avoid frost, etc.
