Anybody ever have problems with deer eating melon vines ? I didn't use any fence last year but wondering if I'm playing Russian roulette.

I'm thinking of just going ahead and putting up some electric netting around my patch this year. I could double duty it part of the year to protect my hives.

There is a product called Deer-X and it is a thin netting that is 7ft. by 100ft. on a roll. I bought some last year from tractor supply for about $15 and it held up well.

Ok, so if anything the electric netting will at least give me peace of mind. Keep the bears out of my hives as well.

Never seen deer eat the vines but have seen them trample the melons to eat them

Put some peanut butter on that electric wire for the first few weeks its on. The deer will come up and lick it and if the fence is on you'll never have the deer approach it again.
