okay hear it is my two melons are real late polinated and this is my second year growing a giant melon does this seem like a good growth rtate ???? thanks pizzapete plant 1 ,291 kext x 318 kent
polinated july 20th its about 200 sq. ft.
aug. 4th 74 ott 13- 100 15- 103 17- 106 18- 108 20- 109 24- 113 25- 116
aprox. 52lbs
plant 2- polinated july 28th
aug 15th. 80 ott 17th 80 24th. 90 25 93
plant 2 stalled for about a week its like 20 inches and really fat lol
any suggestions on wat i can get plant 2 to get moveing my weigh off is oct 7th but i might let go till end oct if i can get one to 210 thats my state record im happy already i beat last years mark 38lb before i steped on plant lol , also putting 20gal of water a day on each was doing 10 to 15

20 gals is a lot of water per day... I'm guessing being in New jersey your temps aren't running hot enough to need that much water... I would definitely back off on the water...

If you have good weather you should be getting 4 pounds or better per day. It is hard to get a plant to pick up speed in mid season. What and how much fertilizer did you put out on 200 sq ft before planting? what and how much ferts do you use in season? what is your ph? what is your weather like?

okay ill back off a little on water ,lol, i put a yard of horse poop in spring and not much else in 40x30 garden bein useing marks mixes calmag,grow,and his tea every 10 days plus some seaweed and fish i have to test the ph , was really hot but lateley 75 to 80 i thought i was not doing enough water ??? lol i dont want to blow up i got 1 more month to go i guess slow and steady is better its tapeing at 120, ott today , thanks pizza

im doing about 2 pounds every day or two aprox. thats why i stepped up the water

seeing all theese big melons in diarys i thought on average most growers were putting 30 to 50 galons a day on there melons????

I've given mine about 20 gallons this year..might wanna hold back A bit..I was told to grow them like tomatoes which I like to let dry out between waterings...wet year here but had them covered til mid July

to get to 210 I think you will need to up your ferts from beginning to end. before planting and during season. more often than every 10 days.

When it's 95 here I give my melon plants about 10 gal of water a day... I foliar feed everyday... and drench every 5th day if possible... melons won't surge and pop like kins will if they get dry and then rain...
