So, if I figured right, since 2010, there has been 7 melons over 220inches. If I missed one, sorry

2015 221" 3% heavy
223" 2% light
2013 234" 1% heavy
224" 3% heavy
2012 225" 4% heavy
2011 223" 7% light
2010 220" even
So based on the info, seams over 220" the % heavy drops from melons in the 210-219" range. So would you think it's the chart, the shape of the melons over 220, or that the outside is outgrowing the inside( meaning filling with air)?

The light ones are long ones, so they get to 220+ ott but go light to the chart.
Many over 300 are shorter and fat so they don't make 220 ott but weigh heavy.
i think you missed some in 2013

When I made the chart that I use a long melon could go 10% under and a short wide could melon could go 10% over the chart. As far as air in a melon I think it's there way before a melon hit's 220". In most cases you can tell if the melon is flat on top, but not always. Longer melons are harder to tell on that.

Todd, from what I have seen and studied is it seems like once a melon passes 50ss it seems to got to chart and over 50ss seems to go heavy and under 50ss goes light...

I am talking about melons going under and over that are in the 190" to 210" OTT'S. Over 220" is a new game, but we will get it down as we have a lot of heads thinking about it.

So here's another take on the bigger melons... Carolina cross melons are ripe around dap 60ish correct? If the inside turns ripe then all growth after that would be rind growth and an internal air pocket right? I mean after the inside turns red they don't produce more inner flesh do they? Thus the air pocket begins to enlarge? This is something me and Todd talked about

This melon was over 100 days old almost no void. Melons tend to look like this when you get no rain for long periods of time. I still believe the plant produces X amount of weight depending on different factors. Other factors may cause the measurement to be different but it still produces X amount of weight no matter what it measures.
