Lloyd Bright wrote a book about giant watermelon cultivation. I love the old pictures and the history he provides in it. http://giantwatermelons.com/order.php

Going back in this forum and reading old posts that concern whatever you find interesting is probably about as good a way as any to learn about growing Carolina Cross giant watermelons. Most of the best growers in the world are on here and many of them freely share their knowledge. And so you should be able to absorb the best of the best by simply reading what is contained here in. Then, if your reading poses any questions you would like answered, a new post here should bring you answers from world class growers. We are mostly a very friendly bunch here although there have been occasional heated disagreements. Also, I find it educational to look through the growers diaries on this site, of watermelon growers as sometimes a picture is indeed worth a thousand words. It may be very challenging for you to grow world class giants as far south as you are; but, I know it can be done if you figure everything out properly. I hope you have a lot of free time to devote to it.
