Late in the season but was wondering if anyone prunes the finger vines from the stump that aren't directly feeding the melon? Thinking about trying it on a couple of slow growers to see if it affects growth rate but curious what results others have seen that might have done this. Also does your pruning strategy change on grafted vs nongrafted plants?

I was wondering about the whole sink/source thing for watermelons too. My first year, so I never did any pruning, just wanting to learn a little bit about watermelon growth habits before I go and try anything to force growth. I have a lot of new growth coming on right now, and was wondering if the plant would send that energy to the melon if the growing points were pruned. Following this post hoping experienced growers chime in.
