Growing a giant watermelon for the first time this year. I started two seeds with my pumpkin seeds. I used paper towel method for all seeds. Everything germinated. Pumpkin seeds popped up a little less than a week ago. No sign of the watermelon plants yet. Are they typically much slower?

The optimum germination temperature for watermelons is 95 degrees f. Carolina Cross seeds bagged on moist toweling and placed in an incubator set at or between 91 to 95 degrees should germinate within 72 hours. The sprouting will start even earlier.

They shouldn't be that much slower. Start more seeds for a backup is my advice.
