That is a very good question. It seems to some kind of rust or anthracnose fungal infection. I saw the brown leaves on your plant. That is where it seems to start. Then it moves to the vines, then the fruit. In my valley. lots of plants get it; sunflowers, corn grasses, weeds, trees. I quit using rye cover crop because it gets rust real bad. I think good air circulation helps. It really comes on strong here in August when we have our highest humidity and slowest wind speeds. And in my valley, we have even less wind and we get valley fog in August evenings. I am still trying to figure out a good fungicide program.

That was last years picture. I have one going this year and don't want to loss it. It also has brown leaves on the top. Only they got touched by frost. I'll start using fungicide on it.

Agrifos seems to work very well for this. Apply every 10 days.
