I am growing in a small space by my olive tree. How should I ammend my soil?

One thing I have learned is that you can't go wrong with composted manure.

Do the same thing you would do for pumpkins or anything else. Leaf compost or well composted manure would be a good start.

I can get that. Has anyone ever grown on a tree?

You are growing on tree roots? So you dont want to till the ground? It's pretty easy to keep the soil fed add manure or compost something that is already mostly decomposed. It's probably too early for kelp I think that's more for late I'm the summer but bone meal or feather meal or blood meal might be worth a try.

You also want the leaves to get full sun, so growing in a tree is not a great idea.

I unfortunately don't have a better area. I am growing on the south side of an olive tree using tomato cage wire to prevent it going into the tree. Literally my whole backyard is full of giant fruits and vegetables except for this area. It has good soil, but could use some amending. Will add blood meal.
