Quick question- do long gourds grow roots right up to the cots like AGs and tomatoes?

Andy, long gourd seedlings look a lot like any other cucurbit including pumpkins except for the weird very hard, square ended seeds. I had a tuff time getting mine to germinate. They seem to take longer than pumpkin seeds. Giant pumpkins "do not" grow roots right up to the cots like tomatoes. Don't bury your giant pumpkins up to the cots or they'll likely rot. Tomatoes are a different animal all together.
