Who is growing them and how are they doing? Mine are 16" tall and have blooms forming. Martin, if these things hit the 40' you mentioned in chat, I'm sending the bill for the boom truck rental to you :)

Mine are maybe a foot or so tall. They were taller than the other tomato seedlings from the time they got their cotyledons. I put them in the ground a few days ago and they seem to be doing well. They should take off with growth pretty soon.

Mine are about 40 inches tall, and doing great. Grew them last year and taste is great. Really good in a salsa as they aren't as juicy as most. Quite similar to oxhearts

Hey guys!

Great to hear that you are all having decent success so far!

I started my seeds on March 24th and set out the plants on May 16th.
I just measured my plants and they are all between 39 and 43 inches tall. However, I set them in a few inches deeper when I planted them, so they would normally be a few inches taller...

Monty, don't worry... they probably won't reach 40ft. - I was just joking when I made that comment. But, considering that you guys grow 1000/+lbs pumpkins and we only grow the 500 pounders why shouldn't you also be able to get the tomatoes higher than the 20ft that I can do...

And I have to agree with Eddy, the fruits are very tasty and especially suited for salsa due to the low water content and low seed count!

Grow ‘em TALL and keep me posted!

I know you were joking Martin. So was I ;) I hope they do well and bear heavy. I put 20 in hoping for some sauce and salsa. BTW, is it possible to save seeds from year to year, or are these like an F-1 Hybrid?

no, nothing like F1, they are pure and you can safe seeds your own.

My skyrocket tomatoes are doing well, They were around the 2ft tall mark when planted outdoors but I also planted them deeper as they were "weak" with the wind, I tied mine up on posts and they seem to be doing allright, they are still really pale and weak from being under "fake" light indoors for so long but seem to be growing well

All I can say is WOW!
During the last three days temps have gone up every day and reached 32°C yesterday with 35°C expected today and tomorrow. The SRs LOVE it! They are now growing 10cm per day! I never saw that growth last year when the plants suffered a lot from early planting followed by rainy, cold weather and cool summer.

Hopefully I'm off to a new PB!

I hope you see this Martin, because some of my skyrockets may be in trouble. I have some interveinal chlorosis on some of the plants. It is starting on the new leaves and begins from the stem and moves out to the end of the leaf. At first I thought it might be Mg deficiency, but this piece of ground was limed with dolomitic lime two years ago and the soil test showed elevated Mg levels. I know it must be some form of mineral difficiency, or toxicity, but I can't seem to nail it down. It is also showing up on my regular romas to some extent, but not very bad. The larger varieties, like Big Boys and Supersteaks are hardly showing any symptoms at all.

Which blight Shannon? Over the years I have seen both early and late blight as well as fusarium and verticillium wilt along with a few other tomato diseases. This is unlike anything I have ever seen.

There is no collar rot or stem lesions and no ring lesions on the leaves. It's not affecting older leaves at all. All of that rules out early blight.

Again, not leaf spots at all, so it's not Septoria. And there are no black spots on the leaf edges which rules out late blight.

Before I got into growing Ag's last fall, tomatoes were my passion (and frankly, they still rate right up there, the pumpkins haven't managed to knock them out yet, but we'll see after this season) so I have seen most diseases.

This is starting with the new growth. The leaf stem begins to yellow first, then it spreads to the rest of the leaf in an outward motion, leaving the veins green. Everything is pointing to a mineral or fert problem. I'll be taking a couple of pics today and posting them. I hope someone can nail this for me, because it definately has me stumped.

June 3rd, Skyrocket tomatoes are starting to Green up, plants are now around the 3 ft mark and flowering like crazy they LOVE the heat.
