A little more than 10 years ago the Miracle-Gro Company sponsored The Tomato Challenge. Robert Ehigh won $10,000. The idea was to beat Gordon Graham's record which has been standing for quite some time now. Anyway, there is a rumor out there that Miracle-Gro may have a similar contest this next year. A really huge prize would certainly bring giant tomato growers out of the woodwork.

What is this about? I know if you went just by amount by weight of tomatos grown per plant - I may have been in the running a couple years ago (my plants grew so much - most was thrown over the fence to the goats)..... Is it just 'one tomato' by weight - or amount harvested from one plant?

Miracle grow can't touch well-composted, well-lime balanced compost!!!

It's the weight of one single tomato.
For 100 Grand, I'd bathe in Miracle Gro! LOL!

Giant tomato contest sounds interesting. Does anybody have any seeds from large giant tomato's. Is it too late to start from seeds. Usually tomato growers have already started seeds by now. What varieties grow the largest. I tried Big Zacks a few years ago and they did ok but not great.
