Anyone here from the Columbus, Reynoldsburg or surrounding area that can help me out?
I've called the number on the official website twice and have left messages but get no reply.
Last year I was told at the OVGPG weigh-off that the prize for largest tomato is $200 per pound. I have a tomato on that could possibly win that competition, but in order to be there I have to stay over night, lose some work ect.
I would like to know if it will be worth missing the work etc before commiting to entering the contest so I am looking for verification of the prize money.

The work I am currently doing requires me to be away from home for the entire week. If there is a possibility of winning upwards of $700 it will be worth trading that weeks work/pay for a fun couple of days at the Tomato Festival. :)

Thanks in advance.
Duane .

I finally received a reply.
The prize for the largest tomato is a twenty dollar gift package.
Bummer for me, looks like I'll be working this week.
Now I just want to be able to have my tomato weighed officially. There is no way it will hold on until the OVGPG weigh-off in Oct.
Does anyone know how or where I could get an "Official" weight on my tomato?

I believe that if you get someone like your local farm agent to witness the tomato being weighed on a certified scale and signs something to that effect that the weight will be accepted.

Ooops. Also you should take a picture of the tomato and measure the circumference. It might be of value to take the picture of the tomato with the tape around it.
