I'm a begginer at Tomato growing. I'm trying to find the brand name of the world record (kind of tomato)that grew it. Was that the same brand of Tomato N. Harp used to grow his 7lb Tomato. If no one can spare a seed maybe you can tell me a good place to buy them with good genetics. Thanks

Delicious is the variety. I planted my Harps... I might have some rooted suckers later this spring.

I would love to have a rooted sucker from the Harps that are from the Delicious variety, tell me when to send the bubble or box, if you can spare one. Thanks

I'll know more early April what the 'crop' will be like. If I don't have enough Harp I do have other large fruit (mostly Delicious). Nick grew his off a 5.xx Timm I think. (5.0 or 5.58 I think)

it was a big zac that was grown 4 or 5 times over the years..(big zac, 4.59 lyons,3.9 Catapano,5.58 Timms,7.18 harp) i think i have it right.

If your new to growing tomatoes ou maynot want to start with seed, you can just go to a garden center and buy delicious plants, if growing a 7.18 was just the strain of tomato we all would have a world record every year. there is a lot to learn, i dont want to bum you out just being straight, if you want delic. seed e mail me and ill send you some comp. grade seed. So, does that mean,,I seen posted here, there were 4 or 5 7 pound tomatos, they were all grown on different types of tomato?

Buy "Giant Tomatoes" by Marvin Meisner. Well worth the $20. Pick up some Delicious, Big Zac, or Mortgage Lifter seeds. Practice the techniques listed in "Giant Tomatoes" and then get seeds from growers next year to grow a BIG one. Lyons, Catapano, Timms, etc. are the names of the growers. Tomatoes are self-pollinating, nobody or bees needed.
