id like to know a little more about grafted plants!! do u have a site we can check out???? i have a catelog that has grafted plants for 2011, they have brandywine,san marzino giganto #3, jap. blk. trifle,and big beef , varietys the difference between those plants and the ones that are not grafted ,are really big yields in the pics!!!

what exactly is grafting putting rootstock on to another plat and combineing two types together????? do u order root stock and then cut a plant and add to it ??? or do u take 2 plants and clamp them togethor so they grow into each other and make 1 ???? i really whish they had grafting for dummies lol,cause i need it!!! i hear the root stock is really exspensive but the plants i saw im the catelog were not to bad !!! hope i did not confuse you marv,lol sounds good to me id try it !!! pizza

All you have to do is google grafting tomatoes and you will see lots of articles and even some videos. I am thinking of attaching a rootsock named Maxifort to a Big Zac plant. I just wondered if anyone here was into grafting as I wondered how they did.

Marv, Most of the time grafting is used when soil diseases are an issue. Some rootstocks are resistant. Does Maxifort have that much better of a root system than the BigZac?

i grew big zacs last year and the roots were up to 6 foot long when i chopped them down for the winter!!! when u graft a plant and you grow it does the seeds from the fruit you grow ,affect the seeds you save???? are they now rootstock seeds ????? or are they not affected by the rootstock???? bein reADING UP ON IT BUT CANT FIND AN ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION!!! lol , thanks pizza

pete if you do a big zac it's still a big zac..your taking 1 plant and making more plants..
