The posts here are so few and far between that it is disappointing to come here and see how little anyone has to say. If you read this, how about signing in so those of us that do come here know you were here even if you don't post when you come. This thread is deader than a door nail? My first tomato seed germinated today though my big push will not come until May 1. Last frost here is June 1. Marv

HI Marv, I started a little early here with 10 plants at about 8 inches tall. Most will be transferred to a greenhouse but the others might have cold feet.

Marv, I check the board often. As with pumpkins, always trying to learn something new. I grew some tomatos last year, had some fun and grew a 2 pounder. This year, going to take tomatos more serious and hopefully grow something a little bit bigger. I appreciate your growing tips.

Hi Marv.Putting 2 early plants in the ground today or tomorrow.Second batch of tomatoes germinated nicely...looks like they will be the main crop.This batch is about 2 weeks old.The first batch are about a foot tall and stocky.

This is my first year growing big maters. I update my diary atleast two times a week. I now have 80 post in my diary. If anyone cares please check it out and if you want to, let me know how I'm doing. My plants are starting to kick in now and blooms are starting to show up...:)

marv, i try to keep it going but its hard with so few posts hopefully more people will now that we are getting into may,the last storm took out 16 of 18 plants i had out side thank god for back ups lol pizza

Got tomatoes in ground & doing well,, Growing 4.77,-3.94,- big zaks ,-Also for eating supertastys , superstakes ,early girl , sweet 100s , they all look good so far approx at 1 ft tall !

I started:
2x 7.33 Hunt; 2x 5.35 Lyons; 2x 5.18 Lyons; 2x 4.59 Lyons; 1x 4.29 Timm; 1x 5.0 Clerinx.
All have germinated, the 4.59 and 5.35 Lyons being the quickest out.

Seven out of ten came up. There was only one tomato plant up yesterday and the rest came up over night. I figure I might have 10 out of ten after a few more days go by. These are all give-away plants as my real crop will not get started until May 1. I had to do something and so I thought I would give my setup a dry run. I have 42 planting sites I am working on. It just keeps raining here and so everything is really wet. The streams are over their banks and the trout fishermen are not happy. Neither are the farmers who would like to be working their fields and getting their corn in. Marv

Started Giant Tom seed from Gritch yesterday.

Feels like I'm late. I'd rather be putting a 12" plant into the ground burried 10", but let's see how the season ends up.

Planted early girl & 100's plant in organic plot.

I still have not started my "competition" tomato plants. Keep in mind that you will be better off having your big blossoms on the vine when the nights are warm enough that they will be successfully fertilized. I start on May 1 this year and will be in the garden on June 15. Marv

Not to worry. In fact this may be a better time to start than earlier. You need night temps above 65 when your big blossoms are on so they will get fertilized and many of the big blossoms come on the plant as the first blossoms. Marv
