I am looking for what the Bigpumpkins community considers the best tomato plant, when talking about yields. Let me explain a lil bit, we love to dry our tomatoes and grind them into powder, works great for bbq rubs, summer sausage, deer jerky and so forth. Ive tried a few different types but it takes a lot to make this powder. I am looking for a big meaty, not a lot of water, and very high yields. So far the best luck ive had is with roma tomatos, but really want something that produces and produces like crazy. Any thoughts?

Mortgage Lifter, produces the most for me, large and more meat than seeds, great taste.. i use these for canning and sauces....

have you tryed any beefsteak varietys????? they usually produce very nice, my best yield is big zac, there a pink tomato not red like roma,burppee super stk, is a good one plus betterboy, i dont think you will find many with little water there all about the same to me !! pizza

Pink brandywines. I grow them and save seed from them every year. For me they taste the best. Low acidity, low gel and lots of meat. Very sweet and bigger than your sandwich! lol

You would be better of growing a paste tomato. Verse a beefsteak, there use to be a variety by Martin Reiss called SkyRocket the yield well and would grow 12-15 feet tall.. I am not sure if there are seeds floating around yet.

Triple-L...the Italian climbing tomatoes..very meaty, not much water.Tomatoes get fairly large.They are a pink color with great taste.Will climb very tall if you sucker them. Can buy these just about anywhere also.

We grow several variety of Heirlooms every year, The best Variety that we have grown is Cuore Del Toro, fairly large Ox Heart variety, firm packed, not alot of that runny stuff, and sweet, low acidity. This plant has a real decent yield.
a brandywine is always good, but they crack too eaisly in my opinion, we like German Johnson, very nice tomato, another low acidic, sweet tomato, produces very well, great flavor.
One of the best places that we have bought seeds from is Reimer Seeds, http://www.reimerseeds.com/, we got just about 100% germination rate since we changed over to them.
