im gonna post the rules and sigh up sheet for the 2012 gtg tomato contest in a week or two now that the holiday is over,im gonna keep list open for a few months ,we had 40-50 entrants last year and some relly nice maters weighed in!!

remember it is for fun and braggin rites,lol, if i can obtain some seeds for prizes i will let everyone know i have some seeds to hand out after i post rules in mid jan. for new members!!! thanks pizza

I can tell you that we have had a walk-in weighoff here since 2008 for tomatoes (2012 will be 12 Sept) at our county fair. 2011 first prize was $500, 2012 TBD .. Drawback is you have to come here and present tomato to be judged and weighed. But. It does NOT have to be ripe to be entered in our weighoff. There's another one on plantyourown.com that is a virtual...

Count me in too. Maybe with some coordination you guys can come up with a system so that one person won't win everything at every site which offers a virtual weigh-off? Leave some scraps for us little guys? Just a thought. Any input?

You're just up the road from me! Did you make it to the Utah Giant Pumpkin weighoff on September 24th? They held the first giant tomato contest for the state then also.

I've prepared a write-up for timing your tomato growing for a particular event, written specifically for Utah growers. Drop me an e-mail (dale@gianttomatoseeds.com) for the info. I don't see a way to post links here.

I will work on posting links to all the contests I come across, so let me know about any others.

Oh, that makes me feel much better. I hope someone breaks the world record this year. And I would really like to be the one that does it. Who knows what the year will bring. Whoever grows a big one this year will need good weather so maybe we should all be learning how to do a rain dance or whatever? Marv
