Watermelon,

Go to my Diary page and look at the tomato photo's I have posted there.

You'll see yellow plastic wrapping under and around the truss that's holding the tomato.

All that is are plastic grocery bags cut into long strips.

The good thing about them is that you can pull the strips apart to their widest if needed underneath the tomato truss in order to support the growing tomato.

I take the plastic strip and run it directly under right at the place where the truss and the tomato connect.

The truss is thick enough to support the weight.

With that being said I am monitoring my heaviest tomato closely for any stem stress and if needed I will take another piece of the same plastic and wrap it under the tomato itself and connect it to the stake.

Old nylon stockings. Just slip the tomato into the toe then tie up the stocking to a secure support. Cut as needed. Use queen size if you think you might have an 8 pounder!

I live in a dry climate so moisture buildup is not an issue.
