Hi ya Pizza!

I can fully relate to late blight!! ARGH!!

For me my season ended with my personal best of 4.48 LBS from a seed grown from my 2 LBB 8.6 OZ Big Zac from 2012.

This season's heavyweights ;

3.22 LB Mega Marv
4.01 LB Mega Marv
4.03 LB Mega Marv
4.48 LB Big Zac

I've been removing plants for a little while now with four left remaining out of my original eighteen transplanted on May 6th.

I've also been gathering mulch and am waiting on fall so I can obtain a high volume of leaves to roto till into the soil along with some aged manure and other organic matter coming up in October.

My one and only worthy tomato will get weighed sometime next week.

I'm still hopeful for a new personal best.
What I have had so far this year is:

2.97 LB Delicious
2.96 LB Rebecca Sebastian's Bull Bag
2.20 LB Hoy
2.06 LB Leadbeatter's Lunker
2.04 LB Peter Glazebrook x 2! If only these 2 could have merged together!

I have had 5 Big Zac plants but so far the biggest fruit I have gotten from them is only 1.86 LB.

I have 5 remaining large fruits on my Giants in the garden.

The one that I have the fondest hopes for is a Brutus Magnum that currently measures 21" x 18.5" x 17".

Depending upon how dense it is, I fervently hope it exceeds 3 LB. I was a little upset to have come so close to 3 LB, but yet not reach it.

I fertilized & watered it today as well as foliar-fed it.
It is still hard & green altho not as dark green as I would like.

I also need to improve my soil for next season. I have raised beds & I hope to double-dig them as wellas add organic matter & manure. My back aches just thinking about it, though.

I think its all about soil & dont forget SUNSHINE. I planted mine on the north side of garden(mistake).I weighed a 2.77 from the mega marv(5.5).I have a possible 3.5 lber starting to turn red.I also have a nice one still young hoping to grow 10 more days.I just got one set on the 5.5 Mega Marv in the kin cave.I may have to give that one some heat. Its smaller then a golf ball but has a month to grow for OVGPG.Still trying!!!

I lost 2 of my 4 plants to late blight. On one of those I picked a 2.8 pounder. It stopped growing early from the disease.

On the two plants that don't have blight yet, I have a very nice one on each that are bigger and still green and growing.

I weighed mine today, and it came in at a paltry 4.104 lbs. I was 1.5 ounces short from beating my record. Still a good season.

Well, I picked my big Brutus Magnum tonite.
It is my new personal best & I've now joined the 3 LB club!
3.13 LB & looks like a pumpkin, actually it is bigger than some of those minipumpkins!
Looks like I'm pretty far back in the state of Indiana, though.
Gritch, did you see the winner for Giant mater at the Indiana State Fair?
Only 3.45 LB but it was grown just up the road from me.

Materdoc I did not see it. Are there any pictures of it? Do you know what seed it was grown off of?

It was a big ol' 3-lobed thing, red.
I saw it at the fair.
Unfortunately they don't list the variety.
