These new really big tomatoes grown in France by Fabrice Boudyo (Congrats again) were grown from F7 to F9 seeds from Big Zac. Can anyone tell me the parents, F1 through F9, of these seeds? Very good records for pumpkin seeds have been kept but the records of tomato seed heritage is getting lost.I have a good idea of the progeny of these new huge tomatoes and I know they started with 2006 Lyons (BZ) 4.59 which was the F2. The F3 was 2007 Capatano (BZ) 3.9. The F4 was 2008 Timm (BZ) 5.8. Anyone know what was next? I think I know but I don't want to prejudice anyone. Maybe tomato seed history is not important but at the very least we should be keeping records of what variety the seed came from. I would like to know if something came from Big Zac, Delicious etc. As an example, the Boudyo 4.60 was actually grown from the heirloom Brutus Magnum and the Boudyo 4.97, to the best of my knowledge, was grown from the heirloom variety Delicious. My point is, We need to know what seeds we are growing. Please name your seeds properly. Include the seed line whether it be BZ, Brutus Magnum, Delicious or whatever such as MegaMarv. Please do this for the future growers.
